Located in the Pendennis Mount neighborhood of Annapolis, Maryland this quaint backyard has all the amenities of a resort. Unlike most of our clients who want to enjoy their gardens in the summer these clients spend their summers on Cape Cod. We worked closely with the Landscape Architect to choose plantings that flower in the spring and fall. An Ipe Veranda with planting pockets and a custom Cedar Pergola provides the perfect space for family and friends to dine and relax overlooking the gardens and swimming pool. The rectangular swimming pool is anchored by a custom stone fire place with matching pavilions on each side connected by a pergola. One of the pavilions has a bathroom and kitchen while the other is used for storage. The raised stone spa was placed on a 45 degree angle and is connected to the veranda by a bluestone grid to define the lawn panels and planting. Privacy was a major concern of our clients. To resolve this issue, 14’-16’ Cryptomeria, Nellie Stevens Hollies and Arborvitae were strategically placed along the property line to provide immediate screening. Shrubs, Perennials and Grasses provide year round color and texture in front of the evergreen screen. While budget is always a concern, these clients made sure material selection and design details were at the highest of standards.
